I’m Adam Greivell, and I run the Greivell Law Office, LLC in beautiful downtown Hagerstown, Maryland.
Esquire | Mac is a blog about my adventures in using Macs in my criminal and civil litigation practice, based in western Maryland.
The quick and dirty about me (a.k.a., why I’m qualified to author this blog):
- Mac user since the 1980’s (that’s right: I was using Macs before they were cool, so, I’m not sure what that makes me!)
- Lawyer since 2005
- I try out tons of software
- Born in 1979 (Hey, I’m young, it helps!) [NOTE: this rationale will self destruct when I turn 30!] Sadly, with the passing of my 30th birthday, I can no longer claim an edge by virtue of my youthful status.
Computers I’ve owned:
- MacPlus
- Apple LCII
- G3 iMac (Bondi Blue)
- PowerMac G4
- G4 Cube
- Dell Inspiron 2600
- Powerbook G4
- Mac Mini Core Duo
- 15 inch MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (early 2008 edition)
- 8GB iPod Touch
- 15 inch MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (mid-2009 unibody edition)
- 13 inch MacBook Air (mid-2010 edition)
- Mac Mini Core 2 Duo
- 16GB iPhone 3GS
- 32GB iPhone 4
- 32GB iPhone 4S
My previous law office, thanks to my prodding, employed the use of two Mac Minis and two MacBook Pros. I have also practiced in a windows environment running exchange servers that allowed me to integrate my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 3GS. Presently, I run my own law firm in Hagerstown, Maryland, and I'm obviously running the show on my Mac.
In this blog, you can expect to see tips, tricks, reviews and musings about using Macs in my law practice.
I previously preferred software that is free (open sourced or not), although I was not completely averse to paying for software. During the last several years, I have changed my preferences somewhat, and I have come to have a greater appreciation for the wonderful work some small (and some large) Mac app developers put out there. I purchase their products in order to support them.
Finally, I would be remiss not to mention that I have been inspired to start this blog by the pioneers of legal-mac blogging (in no particular order):
- Scripting for Lawyers - Larry Staton
- Criminal Defense Law With An Apple - Aaron Pelley
- Home Office Lawyer - Grant Griffiths
- Mac Law Students - Erik Schmidt
- TechnoEsq - Finis Price
- The Mac Lawyer - Ben Stevens
- Small Business and Solo Law Practice Blog - Victor Medina
- Apple Briefs | Improving your law practice with Macintosh - Jeffrey Kabbe
- A Mac Lawyer’s Notebook - Kevin Morton
- MacLitigator - Peter Summerill
Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading. Thanks for visiting.
