About

Esquire | Mac is a blog about my adventures in using Macs in my criminal and civil litigation practice, based in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

I’m Adam Greivell, and I’m an associate at the law firm of Leo P. Hylan, P.A..

The quick and dirty about me (a.k.a., why I’m qualified to author this blog):

  • Mac user since the 1980’s (that’s right: I was using Macs before they were cool, so, I’m not sure what that makes me!)
  • Lawyer since 2005
  • I try out tons of software
  • Born in 1979 (Hey, I’m young, it helps!) [NOTE: this rationale will self destruct when I turn 30!]

Computers I’ve owned:

  • MacPlus
  • Apple LCII
  • G3 iMac (Bondi Blue)
  • PowerMac G4
  • G4 Cube
  • Dell Inspiron 2600
  • Powerbook G4
  • Mac Mini Core Duo
  • MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo
  • 8GB iPod Touch

Our Law Office now employs the use of a Mac Mini, a Powerbook G4 (set up as a desktop machine with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse), and my MacBook Pro. Our office is more accurately described as a Mac-centric law office, rather than a Mac-only law office. Sometimes you just need to get things done, and, like it or not, there are some things you cannot do without Windows.

In this blog, you can expect to see tips, tricks, reviews and musings about using Macs in our small law office.

I pretty much always prefer software that is free (open sourced or not), although I am not completely averse to paying for software.

Finally, I would be remiss not to mention that I have been inspired to start this blog by the pioneers of legal-mac blogging (in no particular order):

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading. Thanks for visiting.
