Personal Update

Well, some of you may have noticed a significant drop-off in post frequency here at EsquireMac. For whoever cares <insert cricket noises?>, I thought I'd give you all an explanation.
Three months ago (to the day, actually), my wife, baby and I moved back to my home town - in Hagerstown, Maryland. We did this to be back around my family and to enjoy a dramatically reduced cost of living. These benefits have come at a cost, however. I now drive 1.5 hours each way on a good day. I typically spend about 3.5 hours a day in my car (on a positive note, I am up to date on my podcasts!). I generally wake up at 5 a.m., leave by 6:30 and get to work around 8. I leave at 4 and get home around 5:45-6 p.m.. I work "down the road" 4 days a week and try to work from home on Fridays. Most of the time I can do this unless I am in Court. I love my job and am very fortunate to have a boss that allows me to be this flexible. Ultimately, the commute cannot last forever, and I am making efforts to establish a sustainable branch in Hagerstown.
Even while working from home one day a week, I find that my free time is in short supply. That is what spending 14 hours a week in the car will do for you. Thus, I haven't had much time or energy to write a lot lately. After 3 months, we are more-or-less in the swing of things. I'm feeling like I'm in a more organized place now, and am ready to resume writing with some frequency.
Amid my personal busy-ness of moving and readjusting, my job has had me very busy as well. I am grateful for this, because not all business is so busy nowadays. I view these things as challenges that help to sharpen me as a person and push me into finding a better way to get things done.
Anyway, I try not to get too personal on this site (that's what Facebook and Twitter are for, right?), but I felt I owed a bit of an explanation to those who visit regularly and have supported my efforts.

Please try to maintain your blog. Many of us really enjoy, and benefit from, your posts. Surely there are stop lights on your commute - can't you text while you're at a red light...?
Seriously, I sympathize with your auto imprisonment, but I do hope you can continue to educate us.
